• The Tiwanaku was one of the oldest civilizations in the Americas, living between the years 1580 BC and 1150 BC. You can see the remains of their culture up close, visiting the main stone buildings, like the Kalasasaya Temple or the Standing Stone Temple, the Doorway of the Sun, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths, the Akapana Pyramid, and the semi-subterranean temple.

• Starting out an elevation of 3,650 m in La Paz, you ascend to the town of Copacabana at the edge of Lake Titicaca,
• At the basilica, you see the famous woodcarving of Our Lady of Copacabana.
• Later on, let´s go to the pier where you take a boat to the spectacular Sun Island, the largest island in the lake.
• Visit the Pilkokaina archaeological ruins.

• Today is set aside for a tour of both islands, and you will visit the Iñac Uyu archaeological centre and the Temple of the Moon, which was an Acllawasi (House for chosen women) during the Incan Empire.
• Afterwards, you will return to Copacabana and continue your trip back to La Paz.

• The first stop for today is the Oruro Heights, elevation 3735 m, known for its carnival celebrations, which are professed to be one of South America’s main popular expressions. The main highlight is the dances with the Diablada being the most admired.
• Once the visit here is complete, you will board a train heading south, passing through the cities of Challapata, Río Mulatos, and Colchani, and finally arrive in Uyuni.

• The program to the Uyuni Salt Flat starts in Colchani village where you can visit the train cemetery and appreciate salt handicrafts.
• Then we visit the salt piles, the salt eyes in the salt flat and we arrive at the Incahuasi Island. This island is located in the heart of the salt flat and is the greatest of a group of islands that represents an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated with a cacti species that measures up to 12 meters high (26, 25 feet), providing an impressive overview.

• Leaving Uyuni, you are on your way to the city of Potosi, initially called by the Spanish “Villa Imperial de Potosi” (Potosi Imperial Village). The city is spread upon the foothills of the legendary Cerro Rico Mountain that did have the largest deposits of silver during the Spanish Colony.
• You will tour its city centre, churches, and market.

• First, you will visit the Cerro Rico or Potosi silver mine and, in the afternoon, you will descend to 2750 m to Sucre, Bolivia’s constitutional capital, located at the head of a series of warm, dry valleys.
