  • San Pedro de Atacama is the archaeological capital of Chile, a beautiful zone and a mandatory journey for every visitor. Through its original streets, it’s possible to enjoy a unique architecture made of adobe. The crafts are made of cacti, chañar, tamarugo trees, volcanic rocks and wood. Another highlight is the local gastronomy, which includes dishes with different kinds of corns; lamb, cattle and llama meat as well as rice, chillies and quinoa (a natural cereal).
  • The Easter Island appeared in the Pacific Ocean due to the constant activity of three volcanoes: Maunga Terevaca, Poike and Rano Kau. It has 180 kilometres of extension and possesses various archaeological monuments. Easter Island is an important scientific investigation centre.
  • Torres del Paine, also known as Macizo or Cordillera del Paine, is a group of mountains that are located in the Southern Chilean Patagonia, specifically within the Torres del Paine National Park.
  • Located 150 kilometres from the city of Puerto Natales and 400 km north of Punta Arenas, Torres del Paine National Park, is one of the favourite destinations of tourists travelling to Chile. It was recently named the Eighth Wonder of the World and chosen as the fifth most beautiful place on earth.
  • El Calafate is known as “The Capital of the Glaciers”, it is located in the Patagonia of Argentina, in the province of Santa Cruz. It is most famous for being the gateway to Parque Nacional Los Glaciares (Glacier National Park), which has several attractions such as the Perito Moreno and the Upsala glacier, located in the eastern part of the Campo de Hielo Patagónico Sur (Southern Patagonian Ice Field).
  • Puerto Varas is known as the City of Roses and Volcanoes for its beautiful squares full of roses, beautiful mountain style architecture with a privileged natural environment and natural landscapes and volcanoes like Osorno Volcano, Calbuco, Puntiagudo and Cerro Tronador. Today it is one of the most important tourist centres in Chile.

Itinerary

Day 1Santiago de Chile

• Upon your arrival, we will receive you at the airport and bring you safely and comfortably to your hotel.
• City tour: Visiting the main tourist attractions.
• Santiago is a mixture between the old and the modern, features that we invite you to know. Our tour through Santiago will show the immensity of the city, its varied geography and civility.
• We will guide you through the Main Square of Santiago, where the Cathedral, Main Post Office and City Hall are located. You will be told about the origins of our city.
• Next stop is the civic neighborhood and the surroundings of La Moneda Government Palace.
• After that we will be driven through some of the old neighborhoods of Santiago, such as República and Concha y Toro neighborhoods.
• Later we will visit the eastern part of the city and we will see the modern buildings and the changes that they have brought to the neighborhood.
• We finish our tour in a handicraft store, located in an exclusive neighborhood, where we’ll appreciate with a Pisco Sour, Lapizlázuli masterpieces, made with this stone that just exists in Chile and Afghanistan.
• Return to hotel and lodging.
• Enjoy your first night at your preferred hotel in Santiago.

Day 2Santiago, Valparaíso and Viña del Mar

• Breakfast buffet served in the hotel restaurant.
• We will begin our tour from the hotel, in a 120-kilometre trip towards the Pacific Ocean.
• Our “Garden City”, Viña del Mar, will charm us with its architecture, its streets, palaces, and Quinta Vergara.
• We will have the possibility to know a Moai statue from Easter Island and a handcraft store of Lapizlasuli (Faba).
• Following we are going to visit the port city of Valparaiso dating back 1536. The city was declared World Heritage by Unesco, and it is currently the site of the legislative power of Chile. It is a magical place of unique and unforgettable landscapes with colourful neighbourhoods and picturesque funicular elevators. We visit Sotomayor Square and the port, where we can navigate through Valparaiso Bay.
• In the evening, we will return to Santiago.

Day 3Santiago, Calama, San Pedro de Atacama: Moon Valley

• After your breakfast, we bring you to Santiago Airport to take the flight to Calama.
• Reception and transfer to San Pedro de Atacama.
• In the afternoon, departure from the hotel to The Moon Valley.
• On the way, we will stop to take photos of the Salt Mountain Range from a viewing point.
• 19 km from San Pedro, in the Salt Mountain Range, is the Moon Valley, declared a Nature Sanctuary and Monument and protected by the uniqueness of its beauty. It consists of a depression surrounded by small hills with impressively sharp peaks. The tour is an imaginary trip to landscapes that do not belong to our world, but to other planets. We will see the Dinosaur Valley and Death Valley, where there is a spectacular panoramic view of the area.
• Now, let´s go to the Moon Valley, where we will find geological formations that are the result of successive foldings of the earth’s crust. In the valley, it is possible to appreciate the salt sculptures known as Las Tres Marias, formed by wind erosion.
• Continuing with the tour, we will walk through the interior of the caves that remain from the old deposits, to get closer to the valley where is the Big Dune.
• After a break, we will climb this dune, which impresses with its size and is used for extreme sports like snowboarding. At sunset, a bold palette of golds and reds appear, touching the soul and sensibilities of the visitor.
• Return to the hotel.

Day 4San Pedro de Atacama, Altiplanic Lagoons and Atacama Salt Flat

• After your breakfast, we start our trip.
• Visit of the Toconao town, typical handicrafts in Atacama, and the San Lucas Tower (National Monument).
• The travel includes the visit to the Atacama Salt Flat, entering the Los Flamencos National Reserve (Chaxas Lagoon area).
• We will continue our trip to the altiplano to get to the Miscanti and Miñiques lagoons (4,150 m.o.s.l.).
• In the middle of our route, we will have a stop in the Socaire town (3,200 m.o.s.l.) to get acclimatised and take photos of the San Bartolomé church.
• Return to San Pedro at 7:00 pm approximately.
• Overnight at your preferred hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.
• Breakfast

Day 5San Pedro de Atacama: Archaeological tour

• Breakfast at the hotel.
• At 09:00 hrs. we will depart to visit the Pukará de Quitor, the Salt Mountain Range (Cordillera de la Sal) and the Catarpe (Incas) ruins.
• Arrival in the 3,000 years old Tulor Ruins.
• Return to San Pedro through the Séquitor Ayllu.
• Return to the hotel at 1:00 pm.
• Afternoon at leisure.
• Overnight at your preferred hotel in San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 06San Pedro de Atacama: Tatio Geysers

• Departure at 6:00 hrs. from the hotel.
• Breakfast and trekking to the different geysers and thermal swimming pool.
• Visit to the Caspana Town (old town and church), the Lasana Pukará, and the petroglyphics in the Loa River valley, the Coya Inca lagoon and the church in Chiu-Chiu town.
• Return to San Pedro de Atacama.
• Afternoon at leisure.

Day 07San Pedro de Atacama

• After your breakfast, we bring you to the airport in Calama.
• Flight to Santiago.

Day 08Santiago, Hanga Roa (Easter Island) and Ahu Akivi (Seven Explorers)

• Upon you, arrival at the Easter Island Airport we receive you with flower necklace and bring you to your hotel.
• Breakfast in the hotel in Easter Island.
• We initiate the tour about 3:00 pm from Hanga Roa, visiting Ahu Vinapu, that it was used by the islanders in the year 1.200 A.C. including 3 Ahu.
• The first one has 6 Moai statues demolished and painted in red. The second one has a supposedly feminine Moai which had two heads. Finally, the third Moai, the oldest one, features only removed stones.
• We will continue our way to the quarry of Puna Pau, archaeological site in the eastern side of Hanga Roa. It is a small crater of red slag, from where the Pukao or hats of the Moai statues were obtained. Along its old exit, there are some incomplete and abandoned Moai. We will head to Ahu Akivi, the first Ahu restored by the science in the island in the year 1960. The platform with 7 Moai is characterized by being one of the few ones located in the center of the island, with its statues facing the rising sun. According the legend, these 7 Moai would represent 7 young explorers sent before Hotu Matua’a’s arrival to investigate the island.
• Our adventure leads us to the cavern of Te Pahu, a place used as housing and temporary refuge in war times.
• Then, we will return to Hanga Roa, total duration 3,5 hours.
• Overnight at your preferred hotel on Easter Island.

Day 09Easter Island: The Hotu Matua Route: Ahu Akahanga, Tongariki, Rano Raraku Volcano and Anakena Beach

• Departing from Hanga Roa’s town at about 9:30 am, we will go to the southeastern and northeastern coast of the Island visiting the Ahu Vaihu temple, which is located 10 km from Hanga Roa.
• It consists of a stone platform with eight Moai statues and eight Pukao dispersed in the proximities.
• Then, we will go to Ahu Akahanga, so-called the “Platform of the king”. The legend tells that Hotu Matua’a’s tomb is near this place. There, we will find four platforms, twelve Moai statues, eight Pukao and towards the interior of this Ahu; it is possible to see the best-preserved village of the island.
• Later, we will go to Ahu Tongariki, with fifteen Moai being the largest Ahu on the island. After that, we will meet Ahu Te Pito Kura, which possesses the highest statue of the island raised in an Ahu, the Moai Paro (10 meters of height and 85 tons with a Pukao of 11,5 tons).
• Near this ceremonial temple is the large spherical stone that is identified as the Center of the World (Te Pito o Te Henua), as the legend tells, it was brought to the island by Hotu Matua’a in his craft.
• After that, we will arrive in Ahu Nau Nau, a temple of a complex construction due to its different levels where we will find five Moai statues with Pukao. There, we will see petroglyphs in the backs of the statues.
• We will continue our excursion to the Rano Raraku volcano and quarry, where there was carved most of the Moai of the island, using the volcanic rock of its hillsides. There is an estimated number of 400 Moai in several stages of carving.
• Finishing our adventure, we will go to the Anakena Beach. It is a beach of white sands chosen for the arrival of the Ariki Hotu Matua’a and his sister Avareipua. Anakena is the name of a small cave in an adjacent gully.
• Return to the town of Hanga Roa, total duration 8 hours.

Day 10 Easter Island: Orongo Ceremonial Village

• After a delicious breakfast, we start our tour at 09:30 am from Hanga Roa heading to the Tahai Archaeological Complex. This ceremonial center features 3 ahus: Ahu Vai Uri with 5 Moai statues, Ahu Tahai with 1 Moai statue and Ahu Le to Riko with 1 Moai statue. From this site, we will be able to appreciate inspiring landscapes.
• After that, we will visit the Ana Kai Tangata natural cave where it is possible to appreciate some rupestrian art representing birds such as the manutara, and where it is possible to watch waves breaking upon the cliff.
• We will continue our tour by visiting the Rano Kau volcano where we will be able to see the largest crater on the Island and one of the largest sweet water reservation of the area.
• Finally, we will visit the Orongo Ceremonial Village, old and magnificent ceremonial city located in the western side of the Rano Kau volcano. It features 53 elliptical houses made of sandstone and a small square window looking to the sea. In this place, the most important ceremony of the second period of Easter Island was carried out: the election of the Tangata Manu (Bird-Man). This ceremony stopped being performed 150 years ago, due to the arrival of the first Christian missioners.
• At 01:00 pm approximately, we will return to the village.

Day 11Easter Island and Santiago

• Breakfast at the hotel in Easter Island.
• At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport and typical farewell.

Day 12Santiago, Punta Arenas y Puerto Natales

• Take the first flight to Punta Arenas airport, because a lovely day is awaiting you.
• Enjoy your free time.
• Transfer to bus terminal to take bus towards the city of Puerto Natales (03:15 hours trip).
• Arrival in the city, transfer to hotel, accommodation and lodging.
• Overnight at your preferred hotel in Puerto Natales.

Day 13Puerto Natales and Torres del Paine National Park

• After your breakfast, approximately at 07:30 am, we will depart from the hotel to start the full-day excursion that will lead us to the stunning Milodon Cave Natural Monument and later to the Torres del Paine National Park.
• You will enjoy overwhelming views of the impressive mountains and beautiful lakes such as Sarmiento, Nordenskjold and Pehoé. Its rich fauna will be present through “guanacos” and “foxes”, among others, including several birds we easily can watch during the trip.
• A short trek will take us to the Salto Grande, a magnificent waterfall coming from the rivers of the park.
• Then, returning to the main road, we will access the administrative headquarters of CONAF to continue to the Grey Lake where after a 30-minute walk through a thousand-years forest, we will get to its beach. This is a place to admire, and you can see big pieces of icebergs coming from the glacier.
• A box lunch is included in the service.
• Approximately at 07:30 pm, we will return to your hotel.

Day 14Puerto Natales and El Calafate

• At approximately 06:30 am you take a bus from Puerto Natales to Argentina.
• This will be a long day and will take a 5-hour trip (360 kms) to get to Los Glaciares National Park in Argentina. Not always crossing Chile to Argentina means crossing the Andes. In our case, in Patagonia, the Andes Mountain Range is part of the Patagonian Archipelago. Thus, after crossing the border line, the landscape will be the vast and windy Patagonian steppe.
• During the tour, it will be possible to see in the distance the Argentino Lake and the Santa Cruz River going to the Atlantic Ocean.
• After our arrival in Calafate, we will have a short period at disposal. Then we will continue another 80 kms until we get the park to start the excursion to the Perito Moreno Glacier, unique glacier growing in the world. We will access the walkway where by several stairs joining different viewpoints, this ice giant can be seen.
• The return will be through the same way with 1 hour to visit the city of Calafate.
• At approximately 10:30 pm return to Puerto Natales city.
• Lunch Box and Park entrance are included.
• Do not forget documentation for border crossing, passport and card entry to the country.

Day 15 Puerto Natales - Sailing to Glaciers

• At 7:30 am transfer from your hotel to local pier.
• At 08:00 am departure in a sailing excursion to Balmaceda Glacier and Serrano Glacier. This sailing lasts about 4 hours to Bernardo O’Higgins National Park.
• During the trip, we will be able to observe the first local cattle ranches, cormorants and sea lion colonies, beech forests waterfalls and cliffs, the perfect home of majestic Condor.
• Once in the park, we will get to Monte Balmaceda that show us, from its eastern slope, the glacier of the same name.
• Later we will approach land on Puerto Toro docking area, from where we will start a short trek to Serrano Glacier crossing a native forest and the lake’s shore.
• At approximately 5:00 pm return to Puerto Natales to take the regular bus who will get us back to the city of Punta Arenas.
• Transportation to your hotel.

Day 16Punta Arenas y Puerto Varas

• After your breakfast, we bring you to the airport in Punta Arenas.

Day 17 Puerto Varas, Chiloé, Castro y Dalcahue

• Due to climatic conditions of the zone during the winter, this tour is made different ways depending on the period of the year.
• We invite you to know the region of Chiloé, Castro and Dalcahue. This tour allows us to visit the northern part of the Chiloé Island.
• After a 30-minute trip by ferry, watching a wide variety of birds, we will get to the small village of Cucao, visiting the Main Square and the church.
• We will continue to Dalcahue, where we will stop at the coast area for a walk and a visit to the Handicraft Market, Museum and church, with time to lunch.
• By the promenade, we will head to Castro. We will visit the Gamboa River Palafitos (typical stilt houses), the Main Square and the church.
• Later, we will go to the last church of our tour in a village called Nercón.
• Return to the hotel in Puerto Varas.
• Overnight at your preferred hotel in Puerto Varas.

Day 18Puerto Varas and Puerto Montt

• After a restful night’s sleep and a delicious breakfast, it´s time to say Good-Bye, and we bring you back to the airport, to take your flight home.
